Case Notes Services

Workgroup Management

Case Notes’ Workgroup Management service manages the identification of a user in a workgroup and provides information about other Case Notes' users in that group. It allows Case Notes' users with appropriate permissions to create workgroups, name them and add users to them. Users may belong to several workgroups and to those which include members in more than one organisation.

During system use, the Workgroup Management service provides information to Case Notes modules. Data on workgroup members is supplied to the In-Tray module to identify recipients of group communications and to present the status of In-Tray items which have been read. It also provides workgroup details to the Relationship Management service to control access to patient data.

Workgroup definitions can originate from an internal service, or an external service which will may be regional or national and cross multiple organisations. The request to the internal or external service is managed by Case Notes' Enterprise Services Manager (ESM). Using a ‘generic’ interface, the ESM connects the Workgroup Management to the external service using an adaptor configured to meet the specific requirements of that service. With the advanced version of the ESM, Case Notes also provides the ability to switch between external and internal workgroup services as required.
